Umlani Bushcamp - Your Stay in Timbavati Game Reserve

Umlani Bushcamp offers traditional African reed and thatch huts built using local Shangaan tribal architecture. Each hut includes an en suite bathroom with an open-air shower, mosquito netting over the bed, and crisp white linens. Candle lanterns provide evening light. Rooms feature a fan, and some have solar plug sockets for charging phones and cameras. The huts are cleaned daily, and mosquito nets are replaced before bedtime.

All meals are included in the rate. Breakfast offers fresh fruit, yoghurt, and a hot dish (eggs, pancakes, bacon). Lunch is a buffet on the terrace overlooking a waterhole, where elephants and giraffes often come to drink. Dinner is served in the candlelit dining room or outdoors in the riverbed. Pre-dinner drinks are held around the fire in the traditional boma. The kitchen accommodates dietary restrictions, including gluten-free options. A self-service bar with drinks is available throughout the day.

Daily game drives in open Land Rovers are led by rangers and trackers. Drives take place at dawn and dusk, with stops for coffee, rusks, and sundowner drinks. Guided bush walks are also offered. The camp has an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas, overlooking a riverbed. A treehouse overlooking a watering hole is available for overnight stays or afternoon visits, offering views of elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife. Shared lounge/TV area and board games are available.

Umlani Bushcamp is located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Nelspruit Airport is a 2.5-hour drive away. The camp is unfenced, and wildlife such as nyala, elephants, and lions can be seen near the camp and waterhole. The reserve is open to Kruger and not fully fenced.
